Back from vaca!

Hey guys :)

Didn't get a chance to post until this morning! Just came back home last night, and it feels good to be back at home! Anyway, I have lots of reviews to come because of what I've read on the plane and the books I've gotten in the mail while I was away.

I started reading Lauren Kate's Fallen series, and let me tell you I'm obsessed! Started on the plane trip back home, and I'm already on the third book this morning! So I will have a HUGE review for the whole series in a few days.

Also, books I've gotten in the mail thanks to Random Buzzers: Fury's Fire by Lisa Papademetriou and Blood Magic by Tessa Gratton. Can't wait to get started on those two and tell you how it goes :) Meanwhile, let's all enjoy the rest of the summer, and I would love to hear what was your favorite book this summer so far. Now that I've some time, I'll try expanding my blog, making some changes, and adding some awesome stuff (and not to mention catch up on my tv shows :3). So expect some serious renovation!!

P.S. If any of you are still interested in trying out Random Buzzers, comment below! I still have a couple of special codes left :)

Book Review: Edges

Hey readers and fellow bloggers!

Well I promised a review on Léna Roy's Edges, so here it is! Here's a short synopsis brought to you by Goodreads:

It is a story of love and grief, addiction and redemption, set in both NYC’s Upper West Side and in the red rock desert of Moab, Utah.

Seventeen-year-old Luke lives and works at the Moonflower Motel in Moab, having fled New York City where his father Frank drowns his sorrows after the death of Luke’s mother. Back in New York, eighteen-year-old Ava meets Frank at an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting. When these lost souls converge in Moab, what happens transforms them all.

A pretty good summary in my opinion. I'm trying not to give away too much, because I think this is a book you should read and experience for yourself. It's a book we can all relate to. The characters are beyond real, and I love the two different settings and main characters. Their stories are those that a lot of us have heard before: of addiction, death, and a hopeless situation. But how easily Roy turns this story around without losing a trace of realism is the most amazing part of it all. You will fall in love with her writing. A 4.5/5 from me.

Be sure to check out Léna Roy's debut novel! For those of you who are unfamiliar with who she is, she is Madeleine L’Engle's granddaughter, and is by no means any less talented than her :)

And I promise, I will post the book giveaway up later tonight/early tomorrow, so keep an eye out for that!!

Let's start...

with the book we've all been waiting for... Jersey Angel!

From Goodreads, the synopsis is:  It’s the summer before senior year and the alluring Angel is ready to have fun. She’s not like her best friend, Inggy, who has a steady boyfriend, good grades, and college plans. Angel isn’t sure what she wants to do yet, but she has confidence and experience beyond her years. Still, her summer doesn’t start out as planned. Her good friend Joey doesn’t want to fool around anymore, he wants to be her boyfriend, while Angel doesn’t want to be tied down. As Joey pulls away, and Inggy tours colleges, Angel finds herself spending more time with Inggy’s boyfriend, Cork. With its cast of vivid and memorable characters, this tale from the Jersey shore is sure to make some waves.

Personally, I had mixed reviews about the book. I loved it for the realism and the how raw the character is in the sense that we can see right through her. Angel is portrayed as anything but an angel- she fools around, betrays her best friend, and can't see that what Joey wants is sweet and innocent. Instead, she does things she soon comes to regret. What I and a lot of the readers have mixed feelings is the open nature of the discussion of the sexual acts Angel commits. Yes, the author has the right to write as what she pleases, but it must come in mind this book is a YA book, and not an adult. There is no warning of the content of this book, so any young teen may come across this book, and read something that might not want to be read. But despite that, I give this book 3.5 stars out 5 for the open discussion, controversy that rises, and the true rawness of the character- a character we usually idolize as the "it girl". By seeing her weaknesses and the change of character she goes through, we experience something unique. So read this book, but be warned of the sometimes crude and harsh language and description!

Stay tuned readers and followers, because I will be giving a special giveaway of this book for all US residents! So follow away, because since I'm a new blogger, the chances of you getting this book will be HUGE :)

Reviews to come

Hey guys, sorry I haven't been on for awhile. But I'm letting you know, I have reviews to come very shortly! Just giving you a heads up. I finished Jersey Angel a few days ago, so I have tons to tell you about that! And I also have more  about a recent read, Edges by Lena Roy,  a book that definitely has some edge! And for any of you who haven't read Alice Sebold's The Lovely Bones, I recommend that as well. I was just talking about with a friend today, and I feel like reading it again! :) It's a beautiful book in my opinion, and I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
